Hamed Mirzaei received his Ph.D. at the University of South Florida studying the role of DNA helicases in genomic stability and cancer. Hamed then came to University of Southern California for his postdoctoral training where he studied the impact of genetics and diet on age-related diseases such as cancer, diabetes, and cardiovascular disorders. While in graduate school, Hamed taught a number of Biology and Genetics labs in addition to designing his own course titled, “The Public Understanding of Science”, which he thought both at USF and USC.
Hamed has made science education a priority in his career and strives to find ways to further educate the community outside of traditional academia. He developed The Hamed Mirzaei Foundation as a platform to offer educational opportunities to students and the public.
