Abstract

Humans have been roaming Earth for approximately 4 million years, but only recently have we observed a dramatic epidemic in obesity. What are the causes of this acute health phenomenon? How has history and evolution shaped the current human condition? Do we understand all the forces at work in shaping this pandemic? This talk will examine this critical public health issue through the lens of evolution.

Speaker Bio

Chris is a Senior Medical Science Liaison with Retrophin, residing in Salt Lake City, Utah. After doctoral studies and a postdoc fellowship in cardiovascular biophysics at the University of Utah, Chris transitioned into biotechnology, where he has worked in a number of rare disease therapeutic areas. Canadian by birth, raised in Texas, and now at home in the Intermountain West, Chris enjoys freshly groomed snow, renewable energy, and craft beer.
